Backyard Wildlife!

Lately there has been a flurry of activity in our backyard. I decided to take the camera out and get some pictures.

We have several hummingbird feeders behind our house. This is our upstairs neighbors deck. Every time they seem to be at our feeder, I can't get the camera in time to take the shot.

I guess he was getting tired, so its a good thing there is a perch on it!

Not that long ago Cassie saw her first raccoon. She was ecstatic! This one was no more then 8 feet away from the camera.

This might gross some people out, but this was without a doubt the biggest slug I have seen while living here! Most are only 2 or 3 inches, but this sucker was a full 6. I couldn't believe it.

May Long Weekend!

Well, its already June and we haven't even put anything in for May. I can't believe how fast the month went by! The highlight of the month of course was when Cassie's family came to visit us. We had an absolute blast! They were here for the May long-weekend (Victoria Day up here). We had the chance to see more of the area, and had a great time doing it. We are already looking forward to the next time they come.

This was when we all went to the Butchart Gardens. It was a gorgeous day, and there was so much in bloom!! A great family shot, but unfortunately we were missing Whitney and Brett. They were unable to make it out.

So many colors!

James, Haley, and Cassie being a totem pole! Somehow it works... I love Cass's expression. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

We went to feed some seals, although this otter was trying to steal the food the whole time!

Abby, Cassie, Lori, and Haley! We walked out to the end of a pier, and the "jump shots" were all the hype. This one did turn out very well!

Another family shot in our driveway. From left to right there is James, Haley, Eric, Lori, Steve, Abby, Cassie, and Peter.

I wanted to throw this one in because it really is just a great picture of everyone. This was as we were sitting waiting for the Victoria Day parade to start. Parade was not that great... but the company was! Also, I have to mention that I stole all these pictures from various Facebook accounts (Haley and Lori's), because neither Cassie or I bought our camera along. These were better then what we would have taken anyway... so it worked out!
